It’s now over 300 million dollars. That will be the prize if someone hits the Powerball jackpot on Saturday night. If you do win the lottery, Wealth Management Expert Don McNay says keep it quiet. “The first thing you should do is to not tell a soul. Don’t have a big news conference, don’t go telling a hundred of your friends, because they will tell a thousand of their other friends and then you will have people camped out on your lawn, wanting money, wanting you to do them a favor.”
McNay says if you happen to be the lucky one in a one hundred seventy five million, two hundred twenty three thousand, five hundred ten shot winner, don’t take your money in one lump sum. “One of the reasons I like stretching it out is that you might get yourself into a lower tax bracket and you can do some things like fund retirement plans.”
